Swan Song

{ABT principle dancer, Julie Kent}

Okay, so I have some news.  I haven’t been this excited in a loooong long long time.  This is serious.  Get ready for it…I am going to see American Ballet Theater’s performance of Swan Lake this weekend!(!!!!!)  For those of you who do not understand my overwhelming, faint-inducing excitement, let me explain.  1) ABT is considered to be the strongest technical ballet company in the country, as well as one of the best in the world.  Being a ballet dancer with Festival Ballet Providence, getting the opportunity to see this world-renound company for the first time makes me super DUPER giddy.  2) Swan Lake is by far my all-time favorite ballet.  Period.  The music, the story, the costumes, the technicality, the drama, it’s all there.  3) None other than the Julie KENT!!! will be dancing odette/odile.  People, this is a legendary woman.  And yes, I do mean legendary.  4) This show will give my mom and I a much-needed (albeit very quick) trip to New York City.  It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen the city and I know we’ll have fun together!  As you can see, I’m going crazy with excitement here.  So the only question left is…..what the hell do I wear?!  Because it’s a matinee performance, it’s not a super fancy event (but I do love a good chance to dress up!), so I’ve decided to scour the racks (of my closet) for something ballet-inspired and chic.  Outfit post to follow!
