s-s-s-summertime

photo 3

Wow.  It’s only been two weeks since my last post, but I swear I’ve jammed an entire summer’s worth of projects into those 14 days and nights.  Since we last spoke I filmed a music video, moved into a new home, spent 2 days modeling (read: twirling) for MAC cosmetics, celebrated the first beach day of the season accordingly (see first photo), and participated in another photoshoot for Unique Gifts By Vilia.  There is so much to share, I’m just going to work through it all in reverse order.

We’ll begin with this past weekend’s adventure on the scenic Cliff Walk of Newport, RI, where I spent the evening strolling, giggling and modeling the day away with the multi-talented Vilia and some truly fantastic friends.  I’m still not very comfortable in front of the lens, but the behind the scenes fun always makes it well worth my pose-a-phobia!  Exhibit A: As we munched on our post-photoshoot picnic and watched the sun set over First Beach, a salty breeze swirled around my face, kissing my ears with its happy summer song and I was reminded why I love this pretty little Ocean State of ours.unique3 photo 2 photo 3unique2 photo 4 unique10463995_523489091089267_2013835002123263991_nphoto 4

8 things i want this autumn

Seeing as it is officially September and all, (when did that happen?!???), I thought I’d share with you 8 items I’m dreaming of adding to my closet as the air gets just a tad crisper…

  1. A high-neck, a-line, well-tailored LBD.  AKA The modern-day Audrey Hepburn dress.
  2. A fun-patterned, neutral-colored raincoat.  I walk to work.  ‘Nuff said.
  3. Sneakers that my eyes like as much as my feet do.  Dancer probs.
  4. This exact backpack.  (Or one very very similar, for picnics and adventures to museums and such.)
  5. Many, many more peplum shirts.  I’ve yet to purchase one with any form of sleeves…
  6. Ankle-strap flats.  This is such a cute detail for dresses/skirts and cropped jeans.
  7. A thin studded cuff.  To add just a touch of badass to every outfit.
  8. Patterned mini with accent pockets.  I love how the garment is small, so the pockets become the focal point.

Besides apple cider and pumpkin pie, what are you craving this fall?

bag lady

Sometimes all it takes is a simple, unassuming photo to spur a 24-hour online shopping marathon.  As proven by the overflowing “wish lists” I’ve created on an embarrassing number of websites in the past day, the above picture had just that effect.  Although I remain obsessed with the See by Chloé tote I gushed about here, quite a few other leathery-beauts have made their way onto my radar since.  Here’s a little sneaky peeky:

These bags are all structured, slightly boxy totes with some form of top handles.  All are equipped with certain assets that I’ve deemed timless: classic, neutral colors, high quality leather and subtle metal detailing.  Decisions decisions.  Which one is your favorite?

(1. marc jacobs 2. prada 3. marc jacobs “too hot too handle” 4. chloe 5. marc jacobs two-toned satchel 6. classic celine two-toned 7. miu miu 8. prada with long strap 9. marc jacobs bowler 10. classic mulberry)

She’s always buzzing just like neon

Has anyone else noticed this cheery neon green-yellowy color taking over the color wheel lately?  Whether it be with a traffic-halting gown or a subtle peek at a glowing bra strap, neon green is this spring’s color trend.  To give the trend my own spin, I would do one of two things: pair a statement piece of neon clothing with light neutrals like white or blush to tone it down a bit, or mix bright neon accent pieces with springy pastels like a pale pink hair accessory, eggshell blue jewelry, or soft purple nail polish.

What do you think of the neon color trend?  How would you wear it?
