cashmere and chai

{yoon sweater, free people tunic, frye sandals, marc jacobs crossbody, ray-ban clubmasters}

It is reeeaallly feeling like fall here in Providence!  I must say, as much as I love warm weather and tank tops, I cannot help but miss my cozy sweaters and knee-high boots during those sweaty summer months.  Today I “bundled up” with this ultra soft cashmere cropped sweater by Yoon (last seen here) thrown over my favorite Free People tunic.  Honestly, this dress was without a doubt my most frequently worn item of this summer- I swear I just kept reaching for it over and over, and it never got old.  I can’t wait to bring it into fall with boots, jackets, sweaters, and heels.  Of course the vanilla chai is a mandatory accessory!

8 things i want this autumn

Seeing as it is officially September and all, (when did that happen?!???), I thought I’d share with you 8 items I’m dreaming of adding to my closet as the air gets just a tad crisper…

  1. A high-neck, a-line, well-tailored LBD.  AKA The modern-day Audrey Hepburn dress.
  2. A fun-patterned, neutral-colored raincoat.  I walk to work.  ‘Nuff said.
  3. Sneakers that my eyes like as much as my feet do.  Dancer probs.
  4. This exact backpack.  (Or one very very similar, for picnics and adventures to museums and such.)
  5. Many, many more peplum shirts.  I’ve yet to purchase one with any form of sleeves…
  6. Ankle-strap flats.  This is such a cute detail for dresses/skirts and cropped jeans.
  7. A thin studded cuff.  To add just a touch of badass to every outfit.
  8. Patterned mini with accent pockets.  I love how the garment is small, so the pockets become the focal point.

Besides apple cider and pumpkin pie, what are you craving this fall?

Changing Trends

{photos via here and here}

In need of some desperate outfit inspiration?  Not to worry, little chickens, I was once like you, feeling lost and unaffected…until I spotted October’s newest and most (surprisingly) versatile trend: none other than the old tried and true button-down/sweater combo.  I know what you’re thinking-“This pairing is reserved for secretaries and J.Crew die-hards only”– but NOT THIS SEASON SISTER!  The stuffy sweater/oxford combination has crossed over to the sexy side.  And all it took was a few tempting accessories (think bright pants, flirty bags, boyfriend jeans, and suede booties).  Et voila!

 For my semi-day off tomorrow, I will most definitely be trying out this trend!  Maybe I’ll even be motivated enough to take a photo…

What’s on your fall lust list?

Although it is sad to see the first week of August come so quickly, it does bring about the excitement of new fall layering ideas.  Free People, the mecca of all things layered, released their latest catalogue this week and, in my opinion, it’s one of their best to date.  Shot in Venice, the mysterious city of vagabonds, romance, fine art and architecture, lends itself as a canvas for each inspired look.  Above are my three favorites, including everything on my must-have list for Autumn:

stripes, leather skirts, preppy neckties (preferably lavender), toffee colored leather jackets, loose curls, geometric sweaters, red nail polish, giant silver cuffs, maroon, cozy knits (duh),  floppy hats, layers over layers over layers of white, and last but certainly not least…long statement necklaces.  And I would like to wear these all at once if possible.  Layering, layering, layering.  Oh, how I’ve missed you.
