flower power

I was feeling pretty groovy in this flower power top from H&M today.  There’s something about the juxtaposition of the retrograde pattern on such a crisp silhouette that just radiates cool.  H&M, you’ve done it once again, providing trendy, uniquely current pieces that have true staying power.  Which means I can rock the flower power without feeling like I just raided Marcia Brady’s closet…score.

summer to fall

summer to fall
One thing that I have unsuccessfully tried to find all summer long is a versatile, comfortable, chic maxi skirt.  This is one of those items that has been on my shopping list for far too many months.  You know the story, every year June rolls around and I find myself lusting after all of those gorgeous maxi skirts out there on the interwebs, but more often than not I end up reaching for the miniskirts, then all of the sudden it’s August and I force myself to exchange my maxi skirt dreams for a pair of new jeans or a nice chunky knit.  However, this year I think these ankle-dusting beauties are sticking around to watch the leaves change!  I can already see so many outfit possibilities incorporating maxi skirts into fall layers (read: leather jackets and maxi skirts play well together).  So that’s that!  I shall continue the hunt, but for now, I’ll just have some fun mixing and matching on Polyvore.

wear/what/where

{what i wore: h&m chambray shirt, leifnotes skirt, target wedges}{what I ate: this crazy-amazey baby fruit salad}{where I went: family friend Katelyn’s baby shower}

I’m SO happy for Katelyn and her husband, Trevor!  She’s going to be such a good mother.  My older sister and she have been close friends since kindergarten, and I’ve always seen her as a second big sister.  Can’t wait to meet little Baby B in a month!

Orange Tangerine Coral Peach

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word orange?  The fruit?  The color?  A gorgeous sunset?  The nickelodeon logo?  Or better yet, Chuckie Finster‘s crazy hair?

From now on, for me it will be this vintage-inspired Coach bag.  A prized Christmas gift from my mom Santa, (every year on Christmas morning, like clockwork, my sister and I each receive a box with a big gold bow containing a bag by Coach…needless to say we ALWAYS look  forward to ripping open the paper on these coveted boxes), it reminds me of the little baby sister to this Ghost-of-Christmas-Past-bag.  But this year’s bag is different; It does not fall into any of the usual categories: not slouchy, big, suitcase-esque, no zippers, no large handles, and most notably no brown, black, white, off-white, grey, taupe, “Sahara Sand”, or any of those other typical purse colors we all know and love…okay, so I made the last one up but it sounds legitimate, right?  At least I spared you one of those dorky knock-knock joke references.  That would’ve been so embarrassing, I’m glad I didn’t even bother trying, orange you?

I’m sorry I couldn’t help it.
