Hello, friends! Just wanted to share a few photos from the tea and cocktail party I hosted over the weekend. As a lover of tea and tiny snacks, I’ve been looking for an excuse to throw a, uh, semi-pretentious party of sorts for a while now, and with my birthday, Valentine’s Day, and my recent apartment overhaul coming to fruition all within the same week, Sunday seemed the perfect time to invite some friends over to partake. There were finger sandwiches, old fashioneds, and teeny Tatte cookies. T even baked me a cake! Though my apron somehow managed to stay tied to my waist the entire night, I was thrilled to be able to go tights-free in my dress for the day, warmed by the rising temps, the warm jasmine tea, and the bestest of friends. Woof, that got cheesy real fast. Better sign off before I go full-on Boursin…

22
This week I turned 22. To combat the frigid winter temps, we decided to throw a Kiki in honor of the big b-day. It was an extremely festive event, with 10 hour balloons, prosecco, and 25 gourmet grilled cheeses (my absolute favorite food) catered by the roomie and me. In case you feel like drooling this morning, I’ll just say this: tomato/pesto/mozzarella/salami, havarti/arugula/dijon mustard, apple/cheddar, fig jam/caramelized onions/bacon/cheddar, nutella/banana/cinnamon.
shhh it’s a speakeasy
Just thought I would share a few photos from the Great-Gatsy-esque “Roaring 20’s” party we threw Saturday night. The roommie and I did some premature decking of the halls, but instead of wreaths and holly, the walls wore feather boas and music notes…oldest cliché in the book, yes I know. But what good is a Speakeasy without at least 3 decks of cards, countless strands of faux pearls, and enough plastic gold coins to win 3 games of Monopoly? As over-the-top festive as our place looked, the roommie and I have decided to keep up most of the decorations because we were too lazy to take them down and pack them up they are so perfect for New Year’s Eve…especially our little mini mirror ball which tragically did not make it into any of these photos! All the guests brought out their best flapper/gangster ensembles in celebration of a much needed week off from ballet, and let me tell you it was not in vain- we cranked up the swing music, busted our most enthusiastic Charlie Chapman moves and laughed more than an evil villain tying a damsel to some train tracks in a silent film.
{on me: Free People dress, Anthropologie headband/earrings, Steve Madden pumps, fur snood stolen from the hood of my Abercrombie kid’s winter jacket- yup you read that right}
a backyard picnic
Hors d’euorvers, pretty table clothes, wine, cheese, candles, and friends. This is summer.
On Friday night, the roommie and I invited our best girlfriends over to celebrate the fact that we are all in one place for the first time all summer. It was such a fun night spent being fancy with our wine glasses and delicious dips (I made an awesome Mediterranean dip- recipe post coming soon) and repeatedly commenting on how awesome it was to all be together again. I love my friends. They are pretty awesome. :)
Have a productive and stress-free Monday, chickens!
ps- I have a doctor’s appointment this morning for the little toe, everyone send your good vibes this way!
garden party
One of the best things about summer fashion is having the opportunity to get dolled up in the girliest of ensembles. Of course it’s always nice to have an occasion to flaunt said ensemble, but sometimes a little improvisation is required. These gorgeous dresses have me dreaming of throwing my very own backyard bonanza, complete with fancy hors d’oeuvres, pretty cocktails and sticky ‘smores.
