Summer Days, Drifting Away…

Summer Days, Drifting Away...

Just some quick end of summer outfit inspo’ for you on this rainy Sunday night (yes, I realize the leather jacket is a bit unrealistic in this humidity but hey, it’s cute).  In the back of my mind, I’m already imagining how many different ways I could layer these pieces when the air starts getting crisper, but for now I’ll just enjoy the balmy temperatures and make it my mission to hit the beach.  Hope you all enjoyed the weekend. xo

Antiquing

{CC top, UO bralette & necklace, Hudson shorts, Coach Bag, TOMS shoes}

Apparently, this is what it looks like when I go antiquing.  Casual, comfy, color blocking.   I love this tank for a whole plethora of reasons…it’s softer than your favorite blanky, it’s my favorite shade of heather-y grey, it’s oh-so-swingy and loose and perfect for lazy days, and, if you squint your eyes really hard at the last photo, you can see that it swoops waaaay down in the back.  Love love love.

Language of the World

Introducing a brand new line of gold traveller-inspired jewelry designed by Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones.  Exclusively created for Piperlime.com, this collection of shimmering baubles is entirely handmade by artisans in Bogota, Columbia.  Buying a piece from the geometry-infused line contributes to both your fashionista side as well as your philanthropist side- 100% of the proceeds are donated to Aid to Artisans, an organization providing opportunities for local artisans around the world.  How cool is that?  Now Clickity Click.  Go get some!

Bon Anniversaire!

Front Row

I’m sure you’ve already heard about this fantastic collaboration, but if you haven’t, be prepared to have your mind blown.  Mary-Kate Olsen + Ashley Olsen + Blake Mycoskie= Fabulous shoes.  The young celebrity designers behind The Row have teamed up TOMS creator, Mycoskie to produce a brand new, totally rule-breaking collection.  After sneaking a little peek-a-boo at The Row’s Fall 2011 runway…

…it’s no surprise that when MK & A got their designer-ring adorned paws on the signature TOMS slip-ons we all know and love, a slightly more structured, sensible, lady-like design was the result.  Breaking from the usual casual canvas or linen flat, these new TOMS are entirely cashmere and Italian wool.  Trés luxe- but what else would you expect from the Olsen twins.  I’m holding the ritzy fabrics and heavy-weight designer name accountable for the steep price tag ($140-$150 a pair), but considered the multi-occasional wear built into them, buying a pair seems like a smart investment.  Right?  These young fashion brilliantes have done it again- transforming our dependable summertime sneaks into a fall staple.  Incredible.  Bravo.  Out of the three drool-worthy styles,  the ‘Hayden Classics’ are giving me the strongest withering puppy-dog eyes.

Which pair is your favorite?

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

It’s time to celebrate, people!!!!!!!

Why, you ask?  That little apartment hunt I mentioned the other day turned out more like my mom and I falling in love with the first apartment we walked through (2 car garage, 5 minute walk to work, hard wood floors, spacious rooms, $1000 a month split between my roommate and I…does it get any better?),  and me signing my John Hancock on the dotted line!  That’s right, after I meet the 94-year-old owner who lives upstairs tomorrow (hmmm…), it’s MINE!  And I think that’s cause for a celebration, don’t you?  That’s why I’ve made my first new-apartment purchase (online of course, I couldn’t wait the grueling 10 minutes it would take to drive to UO, but somehow waiting 5-7 business days is doable as long as I have the satisfaction of receiving the order confirmation email and the excitement of knowing that in just a week there will be a shiny new package on my front steps with my name on it)…and it’s an awesome astrological hand jewelry stand.  That rhyme wasn’t planned.  …..but maybe that one was.  Oooookay, obviously I need to end this post and get some rest.  But first, a list of new odds and ends to collect before moving into the new placey place:

mirrored tray. dresser- deep drawers not optional.  sleek hangers.  interesting lamps. funky rugs.  bracelet dish.  pretty mirror.  subtle waste baskets.  towel rack (rustic ladder?).  gold spray paint- DIY project to follow.  updated picture frames.  bookcase/shelving.  some sort of shoe storage apparatus.  couch.  or 2.  window treatments.

+ so much more, I’m know it.  The post-Labor Day Brimfield flea market cannot come soon enough!

Happy Wednesday, lovies!

Apartment Style

As a celebration of my second professional season with Festival Ballet, I am moving to an apartment on the East Side (hopefully within walking distance)…and I couldn’t be more excited!  To prep myself for today’s place-hunt, I’ve been scoping out adorable new ideas for bedroom organization/clutter control.  Three major areas include jewelry, clothing, and of course shoes:

While most pre-move-ers contemplate appliances, furniture and flooring, I’m spending my morning dreaming of cute little ring dishes and built-in shoe shelving (don’t you think that would greatly increase the value of any closet?).  As for clothing, I’ve already decided to switch out all of my plastic white hangers for something thinner and more chic.  I’ve toiled with the idea of an outer closet clothing rack before…I love how it can add color and inspiration to a space, but it would mean keeping things tidy 24/7…we’ll see how I’m feeling about it when it actually comes time to make the big move!  Until then, I’ll just scroll through/obsessively collect photos like these to inspire my inner-interior decorator:

A few more photos of life lately according to my iPhone…including a trip to the Jane Pickens theater, a stroll in downtown Providence, a spontaneous jaunt around Beantown (where I picked up these new Madewell shorts), a visit to the Newport Cliff Walk, and perhaps best of all, a delicious breakfast in bed.  Happy Monday, dolls! xo
