beyhive

If you’re not in love with Beyonce, like me, go see Dream Girls (warning: you may also fall in love with Jennifer Hudson).  Then watch this, and listen to this.  Still not convinced?  Head on over here and check out her candid, addicting, and completely inspiring tumblr.  My initial visit to the “beyhive” occurred tonight, lasted far too long to mention here, and compelled me to share the experience with all of you.  I am officially deeming myself a true “bey”.  Embarrassing,  perhaps, but there you have it.  I look forward to continually stalking the spunky, talented, and naturally beautiful Queen Bey and encourage you to join me in my creeperhood.

if walls could blush…

Lately I’ve been drawn to pretty, blushing pale pink walls.  I love the way they subtly add color to a room, warming it up in a less predictable way than the usual “natural” tones (think beige and eggshell).  I like to think this look can be done in a gender-neutral way, but then again I suppose being a pink-loving girl makes me slightly bias…

What do you think of pink walls?  Yay or nay?

The “Little White Dress” is a summer staple.  Something that can be dressed up or down based on the occasion; thrown over a bikini and paired with flip flops for the beach or jazzed up with some sparkly jewelry and wedges for a dinner out.  So why don’t I own one?  Hmmm, the official mission to change that begins now…

fun with photo apps

Laying around on the couch leaves LOTS of time for app store surfing…which leads to camera app exploring…which leads to free photo app downloading…which leads to lots of colorful self portraits.  These photos were edited using Pixlromatic + Instagram.  Looking forward to getting out a bit more this weekend; I think the copious amount of self portraits above are evidence enough that I should!

Enjoy your weekend xo

garden party

One of the best things about summer fashion is having the opportunity to get dolled up in the girliest of ensembles.  Of course it’s always nice to have an occasion to flaunt said ensemble, but sometimes a little improvisation is required.  These gorgeous dresses have me dreaming of throwing my very own backyard bonanza, complete with fancy hors d’oeuvres, pretty cocktails and sticky ‘smores.

bag lady

Sometimes all it takes is a simple, unassuming photo to spur a 24-hour online shopping marathon.  As proven by the overflowing “wish lists” I’ve created on an embarrassing number of websites in the past day, the above picture had just that effect.  Although I remain obsessed with the See by Chloé tote I gushed about here, quite a few other leathery-beauts have made their way onto my radar since.  Here’s a little sneaky peeky:

These bags are all structured, slightly boxy totes with some form of top handles.  All are equipped with certain assets that I’ve deemed timless: classic, neutral colors, high quality leather and subtle metal detailing.  Decisions decisions.  Which one is your favorite?

perks

In case you’ve been stressing out about the state of my post-surgery-self, worry no more!  Although being sequestered to the couch with crutches and high voltage drugs as my only method of transportation is far from fun, there are several perks of being crippled worth mentioning…

ice cream (prescribed by my doctor I swear!…kinda); fresh fruit with chobani greek yogurt and honey, a glorious salad of grilled shrimp, romaine, tomatoes, mozzarella, peppers, and broccoli; aaand a bright little bouquet comprising some of my favorite flowers (peonies)- all made possible by the world’s best nurse: my mom!  Of course I’m hoping for a very speedy recovery, but in the mean time, life could be much worse.
